From time to time, the Martin Institute sponsors Westmont chapel services. Last month, Dr. Steve Porter, Senior Research Fellow and Executive Director of the Martin Institute, spoke a sobering and inspiring message. In his talk, Dr. Porter sees the brutal realities, chaos, and disorientation of our time as both proof of a failure to extend God’s love to a world that so desperately needs him and an invitation to reorient our lives as agents of his agape love.
Faith, Formation, and Anxiety: Participate in a New Research Study
Dear friends of Conversatio Divina,
One of Dallas Willard’s core commitments was that the reality of life in the kingdom of God should make a noticeable difference in our lives. The Martin Institute at Westmont College, in collaboration with colleagues at Biola University and Indiana Wesleyan University, is participating in a research study on the effects of psychological strategies and Jesus’ teaching on anxiety. If you have struggled with anxiety, please consider participating in this study.
This study examines a three-week, smartphone-based experience focused on anxiety and spiritual well-being. Participation involves completing a brief baseline survey, engaging with short daily content on your smartphone, completing a post-intervention survey, and completing a brief follow-up survey three weeks later. You will be randomly assigned to one of two interventions for help with anxiety reduction. Participation is entirely voluntary.
As a token of appreciation, participants who complete the baseline, three-week experience, and posttest will receive a $40 Amazon gift card. Those who also complete the three-week follow-up will receive an additional $10 gift card.
