“Epiphany, coming as it does at the first of the calendar year, invites us to see Jesus with the eyes of faith, and to allow that vision to shape our actions.”
This past Sunday marked the beginning of the Season of Epiphany for the western church. During the week of Epiphanytide the church celebrates the “manifestation” of Jesus’ divinity. Traditionally the church recognizes three events through which Jesus’ divinity is made manifest: 1. the visitation of The Three Wise Men (Matt. 2.1-12), 2. Jesus’ Baptism (Matt. 3.13-17; Mark 1.9-11; Luke 3:.21-22; John 1.29-34), and 3. Jesus first public miracle at the wedding in Cana (John 2.1-11).
