This rare, important series from Dallas Willard is on how sin came into the world and how sinful people change through the action of the Holy Spirit and a practice of the disciplines. In the middle, it focuses on Romans 5-8. One can see that it is the raw material for Dallas’s book The Spirit of the Disciplines. But in early form, it is a Sunday school class for Woodlake Avenue Friends Church with his pastor, Richard Foster, in the audience.
Dallas didn’t know what to title the series but it made waves and was referred to as the “Blue Sheet” series because Dallas had printed the series outline on a blue sheet. Because this makes for a lousy title, we have renamed the series “The Psychology of Redemption” after Dallas’s favorite book by Oswald Chambers.
This isn’t the first time Dallas teaches on spiritual disciplines but it is the first time he teaches systematically on them, pulling together biblical, doctrinal and psychological sources.
[Editor’s note: Some audio files are fragmentary. A transcript based on a separate (but lost) recording is included. But as one can hear, it was not done well, having been edited for readability. If better recordings can be found, we would love to know about them.]
