Desert Spirituality, the Atonement, and Spiritual Formation
Christopher A. Hall
This talk is from the session, Atonement and Formation, the sixth and final general session of the 2018 Experiencing Life with God Conference, an academic conference hosted by the Martin Institute of Westmont College and Renovaré.
Here is Christopher Hall's description:
From the late second century AD forward, image-bearers began to move into the desert of Egypt, following the pattern of Jesus’ experience in the wilderness. Their understanding of the cruciform pattern of Jesus’ life and death shaped their perspective on spiritual formation and the specific disciplines they practiced in a desert context. In this talk we will explore this cruciform structure of Christian desert spirituality and practice.
