Perhaps more apparent now than is common, those in our social spheres long to be received by us—long to be received and accepted as Christ would accept them if he were us. Though this message is not directly about Christmas, it is largely about God with us and among us, specifically as it pertains to our social relationships.
We are celebrating Emmanuael, the Incarnation, the Word becoming flesh and dwelling with us. That is seen and experienced in the Social realm. It’s where we experience ourselves and others, and it’s where we most need God with us.
