Against a backdrop of a widely accepted view of salvation being an arrangement with God for the forgiveness of sins, Dallas Willard’s position on discipleship being inextricably bound with salvation may come across as jarring. In this lecture, Dallas systematically unpacks the theology of spiritual formation as a natural part of salvation and does so in a much more direct manner than he does in most of his lectures.
This lecture, complete with transcript, and the associated forum come out of a theology conference for which Dallas was asked to write a paper detailing his doctrine of salvation, which underlies many of his writings. He reads the paper which was later published in a book of other papers from the conference but adds many helpful comments.
