Ancient and modern writers have identified one of the most painful aspects of experiencing pain as its utter subjectivity and unshareability. Yet, they have also presented ways in which pain could be communicated and shared toward the transformation of both the sufferer and the observer. I explore the shareability of pain in imitatio Christi as a Christian counter-cultural living.
