Is (Chronic) Pain Sharable?: A Christian Counter-Cultural Living

Helen Rhee

This talk is from the session, Christianity as Counter-Cultural Living, the fourth breakout session of the 2018 Experiencing Life with God Conference, an academic conference hosted by the Martin Institute of Westmont College and Renovaré. Here is Helen Rhee's description: Ancient and modern writers have identified one of the most painful aspects of experiencing pain as its utter subjectivity and unshareability. Yet, they have also presented ways in which pain could be communicated and shared toward the transformation of both the sufferer and the observer. I explore the shareability of pain in imitatio Christi as a Christian counter-cultural living.
